A medley of croaks, a chorus of calls welcomes you to the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center's latest exhibition, FROGS! Beyond Green, which is set to open Friday June 13. FROGS! is an interactive element of the Exploreum's summer line-up that includes live animals, earth-science programming, conservation-focused IMAX films and fun birthday themes designed to promote science literacy and inspire environmental consciousness.

Two shows will be presented daily, Monday through Friday at 10:30 am and 7:00 pm. Skip the hassle of making dinner, and arrive at the zoo early for "Feast with the Beasts." A $25.00 adult ticket or a $15.00 children's ticket will include a gourmet meal provided by Villaggio Grille and Ginny Lane Bar and Grill and admission to the evening tiger show. Activities for this big indoor and outdoor one-day event on Labor Day begin with a breakfast at 6:30 a.m., traditional “Run for the Mullet 5-K Race” at 7:30 a.m. followed by A Mullet Toss and other activities at 10:00 a.m. Other events scheduled include a silent auction, bake sale, bands providing entertainment, games for the children, clowns, and plenty of vendor booths. Other events being planned include car show, yard sale, dunk tank and more. All money raised during the event will be returned to the communities through programs and activities supported by Optimist Club of Perdido Bay.

3 p.m. The United States Navy Band’s “Country Current” country-bluegrass group was formed in 1973 and quickly established itself in all aspects of country and bluegrass music. The seven-member group is under the direction of banjoist Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson. The United States Navy’s premier country band, and the only unit from the major service bands specializing in the music from America’s heartland. The group consists of seven musicians performing on banjo, fiddle, steel guitar, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, electric bass, and drums, plus one audio technician. All members of the group perform as vocalists. The group’s repertoire includes all types of country music from contemporary Country Rock to traditional Bluegrass and Western Swing.

Tuesday Mornings 9:00am - 11:30am. Instructor: Zach Baisden. As the basis for many art forms, drawing is an essential tool and a powerful means of expression. This course is designed to familiarize students with a variety of drawing materials and techniques. Skills covered in this class will include the rendering of contour, foreshortening, perspective, tone and shading. The class will work from still life setups and projections. Exercises will range from careful and precise to loose and energetic, from realistic to abstracted. Mediums used will include pencil, charcoal and others. Students will receive individual instruction. This is an eight week class.
